Games or practices show twice on a Team Site when the same events reach it two ways: usually a schedule your organization published plus a second copy, such as a schedule link the team added, events typed in with Add Event, or a second Team Site for the same team. Find the second copy below and remove it; the league's games themselves can't be deleted from a Team Site.
Applies to: Team Site staff (coaches, assistant coaches, team parents, managers and site coordinators) and organization admins · All plans · Team Sites with league schedules
Where: Team Site > Teams > your team > Events > Manage Linked Schedules (admins: Programs > Manage Programs > program > 5 Team Sites > Open Team Site)
Games missing rather than doubled? See Why isn't my schedule showing on my website, Team Sites, or the app?, listed below.
Check the Events page first
- Sign in to your Team Site, click Teams and your team, then Events.
- Look at the doubled games. Team staff see an orange link icon next to each league game ("League game") and league practice ("League assigned practice"). Events someone added with Add Event have no icon.
- Click Manage Linked Schedules. It lists every league schedule linked to this Team Site by team, organization, league, division and schedule type. A schedule your organization published has a grayed-out Delete icon, with the note "This schedule link is managed by" and your organization's name.
Find the cause and fix it
| What you see | Why it happens | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| One copy has the orange link icon and the other has none. | Someone also added the games or practices with Add Event. | On the Events page, click the red X on each copy without the icon, then click OK. |
| Manage Linked Schedules lists two schedules with the same games: the same team, division and schedule type twice, or your team in your own league and in a parent organization's. | The Team Site gets the same games from two schedules: a link the team made that was kept when your organization later published the schedule (older Team Sites), or your organization's schedule plus a link to a parent organization's schedule of the same games. | Click the Delete icon on the extra row, the one that isn't grayed out, then click OK. |
| Practices show twice, both with the orange link icon. | Your organization published the practice schedule from 5 Team Sites, and the team also linked the division's Practice schedule. | On Manage Linked Schedules, delete the Practice row. Don't use the red X on the Events page for this: it removes that practice from the Team Site altogether. |
| Games show twice on your Calendar page and in the app's calendar, but once on each team's Events page. | You're on two Team Sites for the same team, for example one your organization published and one a coach created. | Keep one Team Site and archive the other (Team Sites can't be deleted). Until then, each member can hide the extra team on Teams > All Teams. |
What you'll see: after you delete a link, "The schedule and all associated events have been removed." Each game is then listed once. If the two rows were the same schedule, the games that remain keep the staff notes, reminders and attendance answers added on this Team Site.
If it doesn't work
- Both rows have a grayed-out Delete icon. Both links were made by your organization, and only TeamSideline Support can remove one. Ask your organization's admin to contact Support.
- There's no Manage Linked Schedules or Add Event button. Only team staff see them, and only while the Team Site's season is active. An admin who is also on the team's roster, for example as a parent, opens the Team Site as that roster member; ask the team's coach or manager.
- A league game's red X is grayed out. League games can't be deleted on a Team Site. Remove the other copy instead.
- You can't tell which of two Team Sites to keep. A Team Site your organization published shows its schedules with grayed-out Delete icons on Manage Linked Schedules. Keep that one, and archive the one a coach created on its Edit Team page. A Team Site your organization published is archived by its admins on 5 Team Sites.
Good to know
- Find Schedules to Add won't link a schedule this Team Site already has ("Schedule already linked"), and publishing a regular, 2nd Half or playoff schedule from 5 Team Sites replaces a link the team made to the same schedule.
- Deleting a schedule link removes only the copy that link brought in. It doesn't change the league's schedule, your organization's website or any other Team Site.
- Organization admins: publish your teams' schedules from 5 Team Sites, and have teams link only what you don't publish, such as games in another division.
