Practices don't have a Canceled status, so to cancel a practice you delete it. Admins delete one date or a whole recurring series on the division's 4 Create Schedule > Practice page, coaches can do the same in Practice Changes when the league allows it, and Team Site staff can delete practices on the team's Events page.
Applies to: Admins and schedulers, coaches and Team Site staff · All plans (coaches' Practice Changes: Enhanced plan and up) · League practice schedules and Team Site events
Where: Admins: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > (division) > 4 Create Schedule > Practice. Coaches: Team Information > (your team) > Practice Changes. Team Sites: (your team) > Events
Admins: delete one practice or a whole series
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions, open the division's More Options menu and choose 4 Create Schedule > Practice.
- Find the practice. The filter boxes above the Team, Date and Location columns narrow the list.
- To delete one date, click the practice's Delete icon (red X) and click OK on "Are you sure you want to delete this practice?".
- To delete a whole recurring series, click Delete All Recurring (red circle X) on any practice in the series and click OK on "Are you sure you want to delete all matching recurring practices?".
- To delete several practices at once, tick them (the box in the header row ticks every listed practice) and click Delete Selected. It doesn't ask for confirmation.
What you'll see: the practices disappear from the list, from the division's practice schedule on your website and from published Team Sites.
Delete All Recurring removes every practice still in the series, past dates included. It's grayed out for practices that aren't in a series: one-time practices, practices added with Add Rolling Practice, and practices that were edited on their own. To cancel only the rest of a series, tick the remaining dates (click the Date heading to sort the list) and click Delete Selected.
Change one date instead of deleting it
- Click the practice's Edit icon.
- Change the Date, Start Time, End Time, Location or Comments.
- For a recurring practice, leave Apply changes to recurring group (team, time, location, and comments supported) unticked to change only this practice. Tick it to give every practice in the series the new team, start and end time, location and comments; each practice keeps its own date.
- Click Update.
A practice changed on its own leaves its series: it loses the recurring icon, and Delete All Recurring no longer includes it.
Coaches: delete a practice in Practice Changes
When your league turns on Practice Changes, sign in on your organization's website, click your team under Team Information, and use the Delete or Delete All Recurring icon in the Practice Changes section. They work like the admin icons above; the list shows upcoming practices only. The coach article in Related articles has the full steps.
Team Site staff: delete an event on the Team Site
- On the Team Site, open your team and click Events.
- Find the practice. The list shows 10 events per page; use the page controls below it to see more.
- Click the practice's red X
and click OK on "Are you sure you want to delete event "[event name]"?".
The small image in step 3 is the red X Delete icon at the end of each event's row.
- A practice your team added on the Team Site is deleted. Recurring Team Site events are deleted one date at a time.
- A practice the league assigned (marked with the "League assigned practice" icon) disappears from the Team Site and the team's calendar only. It stays on the league's practice schedule, so ask your league administrator to delete it there, or use Practice Changes if your league allows it. On the Team Site you can change only its meet time, reminder, poll and staff notes.
- League games can't be deleted on a Team Site; their red X is grayed out. Ask the league to cancel or move the game.
- Only staff members see the edit and delete icons, and only while the team's season is active.
- Practices deleted on the Team Site directly do not remove it from the League site.
Let your teams know
- When On Practice Change is Yes on the division's 1 Configuration > Communication page (Enhanced plan and up), TeamSideline emails each affected team's primary and alternate contacts, and its roster when Include Rosters is Yes, about 5 minutes after an admin or coach deletes or changes practices.
- Otherwise, send a message yourself from Communications > Send Communication, or from the Team Site.
If it doesn't work
- There are no Edit or Delete icons on the Practice page. The league is archived. Archived leagues' practices can't be edited or deleted one by one, and new practices can't be added.
- Delete All Recurring is grayed out. The practice isn't part of a series. Use Delete, or tick several practices and use Delete Selected.
- "This division does not have a Practice schedule enabled." Practice isn't ticked under Division Schedule Types on 1 Configuration > Scheduling.
- A practice deleted on a Team Site still shows on the league's website. That's expected for a league-assigned practice; delete it on the division's Practice page.
- "Invalid practice date/time entry." or "Start time must be prior to end time." when you edit a practice. Fill in the date and both times, with the end after the start.
Good to know
- A deleted practice can't be restored. Add it again with Add A Practice.
- If a practice is moving rather than canceled, edit it instead of deleting it, and add a Comment to explain. Comments show with the practice on the division's schedule.
- Games are canceled differently: they get a Canceled disposition instead of being deleted. See How to Cancel/Reschedule Games. Schedules > Multi Game Cancel works on games only, so it can't cancel practices.
