The League Schedules Import loads regular-season or 2nd-half games for many divisions of one league from a single CSV file. It creates any division that doesn't exist yet, adds missing teams and time slots, and creates each division's schedule.
Applies to: Admins · Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans (League Schedules permission) · Any league in Schedules

League Schedules Import or Division Schedule Import?
- League Schedules Import: one file for many divisions of one league. Divisions are matched by name or created. It only creates new schedules: a division that already has a schedule of that type is skipped.
- Division Schedule Import: one division at a time. The division must already exist with its schedule turned on and a Day of First Game set, and it can also add games to an existing schedule.
Before you start
- Create the league first: Schedules > Leagues & Divisions > Add League.
- Each Schedule Name in the file must match the Schedule Name of a location on Schedules > Locations > Manage Locations, or be TBD.
- Team names are matched to each division's existing teams, ignoring capitals and extra spaces (and the associated organization, if you use that column). A name that doesn't match creates a new team. To keep registered teams linked to the schedule, use exactly the names shown on each division's 2 Teams page.
Prepare the file
On the Import Data page, the icon in the Instructions column opens the import's instructions and the icon in the Sample File column downloads a sample file. Use one row per game and save the file as CSV.
| Column | Required | What to enter |
|---|---|---|
| Division Name | Yes | Up to 30 characters. A division with this name in the league is used; otherwise a new division is created. |
| Date | Yes | MM/DD/YYYY or M/D/YY (separated by /, - or .), or TBD. |
| Time | Yes | 8:00, 08:00 or 8:00 AM, or TBD. |
| Schedule Name | Yes | The location's Schedule Name (up to 15 characters), or TBD. |
| Home Team Name, Away Team Name | Yes | Up to 30 characters each. |
| Home Associated Org, Away Associated Org | No | The name or short name of one of your associated organizations. |
| Division Gender, Division Age, Division Level of Play | No | Used only for new divisions. Gender is C (Co-Ed/All Gender), B (Boys/Men) or G (Girls/Women); Age is the age group's abbreviation. Division Level of Play isn't applied: new divisions get Level Of Play Other. |
For a game whose date, time and location aren't known yet, enter TBD in all three of Date, Time and Schedule Name. TBD in only one or two of them skips the row. TBD games are placed in the division's TBD time slot.
Import the file
- Go to Administration > Import Data and click League Schedules Import.
- On Step 1 of 3: Upload File, choose your CSV file, check Includes Headers if the first row has column names, choose the League and the Schedule Type (Regular or 2nd Half), and click Next Step.
- On Step 2 of 3: Map the Fields, choose the column from your file for each TeamSideline Field. For an optional field you don't use, choose No Mapping, Leave Blank. Click Next Step.
- On Step 3 of 3: Review and Confirm, fix any errors listed by Row and Field (go Back, or correct the file and start again), then click Queue Import.
What you'll see: "Your import has been successfully uploaded and will be processed shortly." The import runs in the background. Click Status at the top of the Import Data page to see its status, and expand it for messages by row.
What the import creates
- Divisions: a new division is a Standard division, hidden from your public site, with your Sport Defaults applied and the Regular (or 2nd Half) schedule turned on.
- Day of First Game: set to the date of each division's earliest game in the file, and week numbers are counted from it. TBD games count as games on the day of the import, so a file with TBD games that you import before the season sets Day of First Game to the import date.
- Teams and time slots: missing teams are added, including opponents from other organizations, and a time slot is added for each new day, time and location combination.
- Schedules: each division's schedule is created. New divisions stay hidden until you click their eye icon on Schedules > Leagues & Divisions.
To add coach and contact details to the teams afterwards, use Team Import on the same page. It matches League Name, Division Name and Team Name, updates teams that already exist and creates the rest.
Reload or fix an import
- A schedule import can't be undone from the Status page. To reload a division, delete its schedule on its 4 Create Schedule page (Delete), fix the file and import again. Delete isn't available once a game in the schedule has been played.
- To reload a whole league, you can also delete and re-create the league, then import the full file.
- After importing, check each division's Day of First Game on 1 Configuration > Scheduling, especially if the file had TBD games. It can't be changed while the division has a schedule, so delete the schedule first if it's wrong.
- Also check each new division's Gender and Age Group on 1 Configuration > Display, and set its Level Of Play there (the import sets Other).
If it doesn't work
- "The location '…' can not be matched to any known locations." The Schedule Name doesn't match any location's Schedule Name. Correct the file or the location, or use TBD.
- "Invalid date format. Dates must be formatted MM/DD/YYYY or M/D/YY (separator can be a forward slash, dash, or period), or TBD." or "The date '…' is not a valid date." Fix the date in that row.
- "Invalid time format. Time must be formatted either as 8:00, 08:00, or 8:00 AM, or TBD." Fix the time in that row.
- "Row skipped: TBD mismatch — only the following field(s) were TBD: … All three (Date, Time, Schedule Name) must be TBD or none." Enter TBD in all three fields or in none.
- "Division "…" schedule already exists." That division already had a schedule, so its games weren't imported. Delete its schedule and import again, or use the Division Schedule Import to add games.
- "The file type you have chosen is not allowed. You must select a CSV file." Save the file as CSV.
- "The file you have chosen to upload exceeds 10 MB, which is the maximum file size we handle." Split the file.
- "The file you have chosen to upload does not contain the same number of columns in every line (failed on line: …)." Fix the line named in the message, often an extra comma.
- Extra teams appeared in a division. Team names in the file didn't match the existing teams. Delete the schedule, delete the extra teams on 2 Teams, correct the names and import again.
- League Schedules Import isn't listed. It's included in the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans, and your admin role needs the League Schedules permission.
