To take away part of an admin's access, uncheck roles on their Roles tab. To remove someone from your admin site completely, click the red X next to their name on Administration > Manage Users > Users. Removing an admin doesn't delete their TeamSideline sign-in or their family account.
Applies to: Admins with access to Manage Users (changing roles needs the Assign User Roles permission) · All plans · Admin site
Where: Administration > Manage Users > Users
Reduce an admin's access
- Go to Administration > Manage Users > Users.
- Click the Edit icon next to the admin, then click the Roles tab. You can also choose Roles from the More Options menu at the end of their row.
- Uncheck the roles they no longer need. If Administrator is checked, uncheck it too: while they have Administrator, removing other roles changes nothing.
- Click Save. You'll see "The user has been updated."
To limit them to certain associated organizations, content, transaction types, reports or sport types, add filters on their Filters tab, as Why can't I add a filter to an admin? (Administrator role overrides other roles) explains.
Remove an admin completely
- Go to Administration > Manage Users > Users.
- Click the red X (Delete) next to the admin.
- Click OK on "Are you sure you want to delete the user "(name)"?".
What you'll see: the admin is no longer listed. If they try Admin Sign In on your site, they see "Login failed. Please make sure your email address and password were entered correctly, and try again. Note: Passwords are case sensitive."
What removing an admin does
- It ends their access to your organization's admin site only, and removes their roles there. Their TeamSideline sign-in still works on your public website, on team sites and on any other organization's admin site they belong to.
- It removes their Site Editor (Editor 2.0) access.
- If they had the Billing role, they're no longer a billing contact, so TeamSideline invoice emails stop going to them.
- It frees one of your plan's admin places. At the limit, Manage Users shows "The (plan) plan supports a maximum of (number) administrators. Adding more users requires an upgraded plan." and Add User is grayed out.
- It's recorded in the Activity Log (Enhanced plan and up).
- It can be undone: add them again with Add User and the same email address. They start with every role again, so uncheck the ones they shouldn't have, and they're asked to accept the admin terms at their next sign-in.
Removing yourself
The red X doesn't appear on your own row. Ask another admin to remove you, or, if your admin email address is on your organization's website domain, use the Deactivate tab on your User Profile, as How to deactivate your own admin account explains.
If it doesn't work
- "At least one remaining admin must have the Billing role." The admin you're removing is your only admin with the Billing role. Give Billing to another admin on their Roles tab, then remove this one.
- "At least one admin must have the Billing role." You unchecked Billing for your only Billing admin. Give Billing to someone else first.
- "You must select a role for this user before saving." An admin needs at least one role. To take away all access, remove them with the red X instead.
- There's no red X next to a name. It's your own row; see Removing yourself above.
- There's no Roles tab. Your role doesn't include Assign User Roles. Ask an admin with the Administrator role.
- The person still has access after you changed their roles or removed them. Someone who's signed in keeps their old access until their session refreshes, which takes up to an hour, or until they sign out. The change applies as soon as they sign in again.
Good to know
- Admin access has no end date and doesn't expire: it lasts until you remove the admin. There's no way to schedule a removal. Remove the admin on their last day.
- An admin's email address can't be changed on Manage Users. To move someone to a new address, add the new address with Add User and remove the old account. For a shared address that passes to the next person in a position, see the role-based admin email article below.
- The Last Activity column shows when each admin was last active, or "Has not signed in", which helps you find accounts to remove.
- If the person is also a parent or player in your organization, their family account stays. The next time they sign in on your website, they may be asked to accept TeamSideline's terms again.
- Deleting or deactivating someone's family account doesn't remove their admin access; that's managed only here.
- Adding a new admin and helping them sign in for the first time are covered in How to use the Manage Users Page and control who is an Administrator in your Site.
