If you're leaving a role, you can remove your own admin access from your organization on the Deactivate tab of your User Profile. Your TeamSideline sign-in isn't deleted, and the other admins get an email saying you left.
Applies to: Org admins whose email address is on the organization's own website domain · All plans · Admin site
Where: Your name at the top of the admin site > User Profile > Deactivate
Before you start
- The Deactivate tab appears only when your admin email is on your organization's website domain, for example president@yourleague.org for www.yourleague.org. If you don't see the tab, ask another admin to remove you on Administration > Manage Users.
- Your organization needs another admin. You can't deactivate if you're the only one.
- If you're the only admin with the Billing role, ask another admin to take that role first.
- If you're handing a shared account to someone else rather than closing it, don't deactivate. See How to set up and hand over a role-based (shared) admin email account.
How to deactivate your admin account
- 1. Click your name at the top of the admin site to open your User Profile.
- 2. Click the Deactivate tab.
- 3. Read the message. It explains that your access to this organization ends, that your TeamSideline sign-in and any other organizations you administer aren't affected, and that you'll be asked to accept the Terms of Service again if you're added back.
- 4. Type DEACTIVATE in the Type DEACTIVATE box. Capital letters don't matter.
- 5. Click Deactivate. The button stays grayed out until the word matches.
You're signed out right away and see "You are now signed out. Thank you for using TeamSideline."
What happens
- Your admin access and every role you held in this organization are removed, along with your access to its website editor.
- Your TeamSideline sign-in still works. You keep any parent or player access and your admin access to other organizations.
- Each remaining admin in the organization gets an email titled "An administrator has been deactivated for (organization name)". It says you deactivated your account, that your roles were removed, and asks them to assign any roles you covered, especially billing, to another admin. You get a copy of the same email.
- The organization's Administration > Activity Log shows a Self Deactivate entry. The Activity Log is available on the Enhanced, Elite and Enterprise plans.
If it doesn't work
- "You are the only administrator for this organization. Add another administrator before deactivating your account." Ask someone to be added as an admin first, then try again.
- "At least one remaining admin must have the Billing role." Have another admin given the Billing role on Manage Users, then try again.
- "Please type DEACTIVATE to confirm that you want to deactivate your account." The confirmation word didn't match. Type it again.
- There's no Deactivate tab. Your email isn't on your organization's website domain. Another admin can remove you on Manage Users.
Good to know
- You can't undo this yourself. Another admin can add you back with Add User on Manage Users, and you'll accept the Terms of Service again at your next sign-in.
- Admins can't remove themselves from the Manage Users page. The delete option is hidden on your own row.
- TeamSideline staff who sign in to help you can't deactivate your account for you.
