Overview
This article covers three scheduling and standings configuration issues that come up frequently for Site Administrators: (1) the meaning of the red vs. green (and yellow/gray) eyeball visibility icon on the Schedules page; (2) the "Double Header schedule for this Division configuration is not available" message; and (3) how Custom Points standings mode interacts with tie-breakers and how to revert a division to Default standings.
1. Schedule Visibility: The Eyeball Icon (Red vs. Green)
Whether a division's schedule is visible to the public and on Team Sites is controlled by the Visibility (eyeball) icon on the Schedules > Leagues & Divisions page. If administrators build a schedule but games do not appear on the Team Site or public site, the most common cause is that the schedule visibility is toggled off.
The icon has the following states:
- Gray eye — No schedule has been created yet (or the schedule has not been generated). The icon stays gray until a schedule exists for the division.
- Red eye — A schedule exists but is hidden (not visible). This is the default when a schedule is first created.
- Green eye — The schedule is fully visible to the public and on Team Sites.
- Yellow eye — The schedule is visible, but only a limited number of weeks are shown. This appears when 1 Configuration > Display has "Show # of Sched. Wks" set to a specific number rather than "All," or when "Show Schedule Section" is not set to Yes.
How to make a schedule visible or hidden
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions.
- Locate the division and click its eyeball icon.
- Click to toggle the icon from red (hidden) to green (visible). Click again to toggle it back to red to hide the schedule.
To resolve a yellow eye and show the full schedule, go to the division's 1 Configuration > Display page and set Show Schedule Section = Yes and/or set Show # of Sched. Wks = All.
Tip: Making the eye green makes the schedule visible in two places — on the Team Site and publicly on the organization website. To hide an old season, toggle every division's eye from green to red.
2. "Double Header schedule for this Division configuration is not available"
When creating a Double Header schedule, administrators sometimes see the message: "A Double Header schedule for this Division configuration is not available. Please contact support and include the Division name." There are two common causes.
Cause A: Time Slots do not match the number of teams
For a Double Header schedule, the number of Time Slots must equal the number of Teams in the division. If there are more Time Slots than teams (for example, 6 time slots for 5 teams), the Double Header configuration will be unavailable.
- Go to the division's 1 Configuration > Scheduling page.
- Confirm the number of teams in the division.
- Delete extra Time Slots so the count of Time Slots equals the count of teams (for example, delete one time slot so 4 teams have exactly 4 time slots).
- Return to 4 Create Schedule and generate the Double Header schedule.
Cause B: No matching Double Header template exists for this configuration
Double Header schedules are generated from predefined templates. Some division configurations (certain team counts or formats, such as small 3v3 leagues) do not have a matching built-in Double Header template. In these cases the Double Header option cannot be created by the administrator directly, and a custom template must be created by TeamSideline staff.
If the Time Slots already equal the number of teams and the Double Header option is still unavailable, ask the customer to submit a request to TeamSideline Support that includes the full Division name. Support will create the custom Double Header template, after which the administrator can go to the division's 4 Create Schedule tab to make any adjustments.
3. Custom Points Standings vs. Default Standings (Tie-Breakers)
A division's standings can be calculated using either Default standings (win/loss records ordered by the configured tie-breaker order) or a Custom Points system (teams ordered by total accumulated custom points, such as bonus points for wins, ties, goals, or making up games).
Key behavior: When a division is set to Custom Points, standings are ordered by Total Custom Points. This can make it appear that the configured tie-breaker order (for example, Head-to-Head > Runs For > Runs Against > Coin Toss) is being ignored, because point totals drive the ranking. If tie-breakers appear "not working," first check whether the division is using Custom Points instead of Default.
How to revert a division to Default standings
- Go to Schedules > Leagues & Divisions and select the division.
- Open the 1 Configuration > Scoring tab.
- Change the standings/points setting from Custom Points back to Default.
- Save. The standings will re-sort using your configured Default tie-breaker order.
Adjusting the tie-breaker order
The order teams are ranked when records are tied is set in the Standings Calculation Configuration on the division's 1 Configuration > Scoring page. To change the default for future leagues under a sport, update Schedules > Configurations > Sport Defaults > Tie Breaker Order. For an existing division, update it under the division's Scoring page.
Note: If a standings order still looks wrong after changing the configuration, run a standings refresh — click Edit Scores and choose Standings Update Only. Manual overrides should almost never be needed; there is usually a configuration setting that corrects the order.
