To change the email address you sign in with, sign in on your organization's website, go to My Account > My Profile and click Edit next to Email Address. Click Change Email Address, type the new address twice and click Send Confirmation Email. The change takes effect when you open the email sent to your new address and confirm it.
Applies to: Parents, players and other family members with a TeamSideline account · All plans · On the web in a browser (not in the TeamSideline app)
Where: Your organization's website > My Account > My Profile > Email Address (Edit); on TeamSideline.com, your name at the top of the page > My Account > Email Address (Edit)
Before you start
- You have one TeamSideline account. The new address becomes your sign-in on every organization's website that uses TeamSideline, on team sites and in the TeamSideline app.
- You need to be able to open email at the new address. Your old address keeps working until you confirm the change.
- Choose an address that doesn't already have its own TeamSideline account, for example one you've registered with before or one that was added for another parent on your account. Changing to it doesn't combine the two accounts (see If it doesn't work).
- Use a web browser on a computer or phone. The TeamSideline app has no option to change your email address.
Change your email address
- Sign in on your organization's website.
- Go to My Account > My Profile, or click your name at the top of the page.
- Next to Email Address, click Edit. The Email Address page opens.
- Click Change Email Address.
- Type the new address in New Email Address and again in Repeat Email Address. A check mark appears when the two entries match.
- Click Send Confirmation Email.
- Open the email TeamSideline sends to your new address, "Confirm Your New Email Address | TeamSideline.com", and click Confirm Email Address Change.
- On the Confirm Email Address Change page, check the Old Email Address and the New Email Address, then click Confirm. You don't enter your password on this page.
- Sign in with your new email address and your existing password.
What you'll see: after you click Send Confirmation Email, "Your email change confirmation email will be sent to your new email address shortly. You must click the confirmation link within the email and complete the process to change your email address." Opening the link in the email signs you out of TeamSideline in that browser. After you click Confirm, a TeamSideline sign-in page shows "Your email address has been successfully changed. Please sign in with your new email address and existing password." From then on, your old address no longer signs you in.
The steps printed on the Email Address page say to enter your account password and click Accept change. The confirmation page has only the Confirm button described above.
What changes with your email address
- You sign in everywhere with the new address and your existing password, on your organization's website, on TeamSideline.com team sites and in the TeamSideline app.
- Your family account, registrations, orders and teams stay with you.
- TeamSideline puts the new address in place of the old one wherever it was on file: on your family account with each organization, on team site rosters and team contacts, and on officials' records. Your organization's emails and your teams' emails and reminders go to the new address.
Change it on TeamSideline.com
If you use team sites on TeamSideline.com, you can make the same change there. Sign in, click your name at the top of the page to open My Account, and click Edit next to Email Address. Then follow steps 4 to 9 above. It's the same account, so you only change it once.
Remove an email filter on your address
The Email Address page also lists any email filter on your address, with its Email Filter (such as Bad or Opt Out), Organization and Created Date. While your address has a filter, the Edit button next to Email Address on My Profile shows a red flag. To remove a filter, click the red X next to it and click OK. "There are no email filters on your email address." means nothing is stopping emails to you. For what each filter means, see What does the red flag next to an email address mean?
If it doesn't work
- "New Email Address field is required." or "Repeat Email Address field is required." Fill in both boxes.
- "Email Address fields do not match." Type the address exactly the same way in both boxes, capital letters included. The check mark can appear when only the capitals differ, but the page still refuses the change.
- "Invalid New Email Address." The address has a typo or a space in it. Type it instead of pasting it.
- The confirmation email doesn't arrive. Check the spam and junk folders at the new address, and check that you typed it correctly. If you didn't, send the confirmation again with the right address.
- "Your email address change was previously confirmed." The link was already used, so your address has already changed. Sign in with the new address.
- "An account with your new email address already existed, so the accounts were merged. Please sign in with your new email address. If you do not know the password, click the "Forgot Your Password" link." The new address already had its own TeamSideline account, and the two accounts aren't actually combined. Keep signing in with your old address, which still has your family account and registrations, and contact your organization or TeamSideline Support to finish the change.
- "This email address is already in use by one of your existing account members. Please access the existing member instead of creating a new member or use a unique email address for this new member." You see this on My Account > Members when you add or edit another parent or guardian. A parent in this organization already has that address, on your account or on another family's account. Each parent needs their own email address. If the address is correct, contact your organization.
- You can't sign in to make the change. Reset your password with Forgot your password? on the sign-in page. If the reset email can't reach you because you no longer use the old address, contact your organization through the Contact Us link on its website, or TeamSideline Support.
Good to know
- Each parent or guardian who has their own sign-in changes their address the same way, from their own My Profile.
- Your organization can also change the email address on your family account. You then sign in to that organization's website with the new address. If the address doesn't have a TeamSideline account yet, TeamSideline emails it a welcome message with a temporary password. This change applies only to your family account with that organization.
- Changing your email address doesn't change your password. To change your password, see How to change or reset your password (parents and players).
- My Profile is also where you update your name, address, phone numbers and, when your organization asks for it, your date of birth. On TeamSideline.com, My Account has your First Name, Last Name, Time Zone (used only for calendar subscriptions) and Receive Reminders.
- Organization admins change the email they sign in to the admin site with on their own User Profile. See How to Change your Admin Email Address or Admin Name.
