On a Team Site, the team's staff (coaches, assistant coaches, managers, team parents and site coordinators) edit the roster, and members can edit their own details. How much anyone can change is set by your organization's Roster Edit setting: Everything, Limited or None.
Applies to: Coaches, team staff, parents and players · All plans · Team Sites your organization publishes (team sites you create yourself aren't limited by Roster Edit)
Where: Your team site > Roster (admins choose Roster Edit at Programs > Configurations > Team Sites)
What each Roster Edit setting allows
| Roster Edit | Team staff | Players and parents |
|---|---|---|
| Everything | Add people with Add To Roster, edit any member, and delete people who were added on the team site. Members who came from your organization's registrations can't be deleted there, and you can't delete yourself. | Edit their own details, and a parent their child's. |
| Limited | Edit phone numbers, Jersey #, Position, Photo, Background and Privacy Required. First Name, Last Name, Role(s) and Parent of are read-only, and staff can't change email addresses. Nobody can add or delete people. | Edit those same details for themselves, and a parent for their child. A signed-in parent can also change their child's email address. |
| None | No changes. The member edit page doesn't open, even for your own entry. | No changes, even to their own details. |
With Limited or None, team staff see "Note: The Add To Roster button has been disabled by" followed by your organization's name, with a link to its Contact Us page. The setting applies to every team site your organization publishes.

What you'll see: "Member updated." and the roster with your changes.
Team Registration plus Roster programs
In these programs, a team also has a registration roster, the one the team manager submits to your organization. It's edited on your organization's website under Manage Rosters, not on the team site, by the team manager and by coaches whose Roster Edit is Yes. A coach the manager or an admin adds with the Coach role gets Roster Edit automatically. See Team managers: give your coach access to edit the roster, under Related articles.
If it doesn't work
- Add To Roster is grayed out, or you see "Note: The Add To Roster button has been disabled by" your organization. Roster Edit is Limited or None. Use the Contact Us link in the note to ask your organization for the change.
- Names and Role(s) are grayed out. Roster Edit is Limited.
- There's no Edit icon or Edit button. Roster Edit is None, the team's season is no longer active, or you're viewing someone else's entry as a player or parent.
- The Delete icon is grayed out. You can't delete yourself or a member who came from registration, and nobody can delete with Limited.
- "You must have at least one staff role for yourself." You unchecked your own staff role. Keep one checked, or ask another staff member or your organization.
- An admin who is also on the team's roster can't edit as an admin there. When an admin's email address matches a member on that roster, they get only that member's access on the team site.
Good to know
- Coach, Assistant Coach, Manager, Team Parent and Site Coordinator all count as team staff and have the same roster rights on the team site.
- Your organization's admins aren't limited by Roster Edit, and can change the roster from the admin site.
- Team sites that coaches create themselves (standalone team sites) aren't limited by Roster Edit.
- Only team staff can change a member's Role(s).
