Find your problem below, then try the fixes in order. If none of them works, email support@teamsideline.com with the program name, the division, and a screenshot.
Drag & drop
An enrollee isn't in the list
- Check that their enrollment is accepted. Waitlisted, canceled, and void enrollments don't appear.
- They may already be on a team. Look for them on the right side.
- Remove filters one at a time. The Gender and Player Grade filters match youth players only, and the Gender filter offers only Female and Male.
- If you just added a filter and haven't checked any values, it hides everyone. Check a value or remove the filter.
- Volunteers appear only as Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Parent, or Manager.
- If your organization hides coaches who haven't passed a background check, they won't appear until they pass.
- If your admin login is limited to certain associated organizations, you see only their enrollees and teams.
I can't drop anyone onto a team, or drag anyone off
The roster is locked. Go to the 4 Rosters tab and click the team's lock icon to unlock it.
A volunteer I added with Volunteer Quick Add isn't in the list
- Check the Role you chose. Only Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Parent, and Manager appear.
- If your organization hides coaches who haven't passed a background check, a new volunteer won't appear until their check passes.
The sort order looks wrong
- Sort compares values as text, so 10 comes before 9. For number fields like evaluation scores, enter numbers with the same number of digits, like 09 and 10.
- After you reopen the page, choose the sort again to apply it.
- Assigned enrollees on the right may stay in first-name order. This is a known issue.
The team contact on 2 Teams is out of date
The first Coach you place on a team becomes the team contact. Moving or removing that coach doesn't change it. Update the contact on the division's 2 Teams page.
A volunteer type change didn't stick
The page doesn't show an error if the change fails. Refresh the page to check, and try again.
Toggle Mode is missing
When Smart Auto Assign is on for your organization, Toggle Mode is hidden and the page always uses drag and drop.
Smart Auto Assign
The Smart Auto Assign tab is missing
- Smart Auto Assign may not be on for your organization. Contact support@teamsideline.com.
- Your admin role may not include the AI Auto-Assignment permission.
- It isn't available for Team Registration programs or camps.
Run AI Assignment is grayed out
- Set up at least one division under Step 1: Configure Divisions.
- Wait for the current run to finish.
- Archive any published team sites in the program.
- If a proposal is waiting, commit it or reset it first.
"You have published Team Sites for this program"
Smart Auto Assign can't run while any team site in the program is published. That includes divisions you didn't set up. Archive the sites on the 5 Team Sites tab, run and commit, then republish. See Roster assignment and published team sites.
"An AI assignment is already running for this program"
If you just clicked Cancel AI Assignment, the cancel takes a minute or two to finish. Wait, refresh the page, and run again.
The page still says the run is processing
Runs wait for TeamSideline's background service, which checks for new runs about once a minute. If the page still says processing after 10 minutes, contact support@teamsideline.com.
The page unlocked with no message and no proposal
The run found nothing to place, or it didn't finish. Check that the division has unassigned enrollees in the offerings and enrollee types you chose, and at least one team. Then run again.
Some enrollees were left unassigned
- The teams were full at the Roster Max. Add teams or set Create missing teams to Yes.
- With Keep families together on, a family that can't fit on one team stays unassigned.
- Place the rest with Drag & drop after you commit.
Criteria don't seem to work
- Adult enrollees have no age, gender, or grade on file, so criteria don't affect adult programs.
- Check that players have a birth date, gender, and grade on their accounts.
- Check that the criterion applies to the division.
- Higher priorities win when criteria conflict, and team sizes stay as even as possible.
Ages look wrong
Ages are counted on each offering's Age As Of Date. If an offering has none, ages are counted on the day of the run. Set the date on the offering, then run again.
Coaches or volunteers moved unexpectedly
- Replace clears every player and volunteer on the division's teams, then places them again. Use Keep to leave coaches where they are.
- Smart Auto Assign combines the enrollee types from all your divisions. Use the same enrollee types in every division.
- With Keep families together on, a parent who volunteers goes on their child's team.
Players were added to a locked roster
Smart Auto Assign doesn't check roster locks. Move them with Drag & drop, and leave divisions with locked rosters out of your setup.
My setup is gone, or someone else committed my proposal
Each admin has their own setup, so a colleague doesn't see yours. A program has one proposal at a time, and any admin can commit or reset it. Agree on who runs Smart Auto Assign for each program.
Dropping onto a division in Step 3 took a player off their team
In Step 3, drop people onto a team, not onto the division name. Moves you make by hand in Step 3 save right away and aren't part of the proposal.
Some admins can't see the new teams
Teams that Smart Auto Assign creates have no associated organization. Admins limited to an associated organization can't see them. Ask an admin without that limit to update the team on the division's 2 Teams page.
