Families often want siblings on the same team. Smart Auto Assign can do this for you with the Keep families together setting. With Drag & drop, you place family members together yourself.
What counts as a family
Smart Auto Assign groups enrollees who are registered under the same account and placed in the same division.
- Siblings in different divisions aren't grouped, since they play on different teams anyway.
- Children registered under different accounts aren't grouped, even if they're related.
- A parent who volunteers, like a coach, counts as part of the family.
Turn it on in Smart Auto Assign
- On the Smart Auto Assign tab, under Step 1: Configure Divisions, click Configure a Division, or the Edit icon on an existing row.
- Set Keep families together to Yes.
- Click Add or Save.
The setting applies to that division only.
How families are placed
- Together or not at all. Each family goes on one team with room for all of them. If no team has room for the whole family, the family stays unassigned so you can place them by hand.
- Roster Max comes first. A family never pushes a team over the maximum.
- Coaches go with their child. A parent who volunteers is placed on their child's team.
- Balance may be a little looser. Families move as a unit, so team sizes and averages can be less even than without the setting.
- When the division is short on room, siblings can end up split, with one placed and one left unassigned. Check families before you commit.
Two enrollments for the same child in the same division go on the same team and use two spots.
Keep families together with Drag & drop
- Under Sort, choose Last Name so siblings sit next to each other. Or type the family name in the Search box.
- Hold Ctrl and click each family member.
- Drag them onto the team together.
To check a family's account, hold the pointer over a name to open the enrollee's details.
