On a Team Site's Roster page, a gold lock next to someone's email address means that person is registered: they have created a TeamSideline account with that email address and signed in with it, so they can see the team. A red flag means TeamSideline can't email that address, because it was entered wrong or isn't accepting TeamSideline emails. Point to either icon to see its tooltip.
Applies to: Coaches, team staff, players and parents · All plans · Team Site rosters on the web, for Team Sites your organization publishes and teams created on TeamSideline
Where: Your team's Team Site > Roster (the Email Address column)
The gold lock: a registered member
The gold lock's tooltip reads "This icon indicates a registered member of this Roster. Members who have not registered can not see the Team Calendar or any Event related information." The image below shows the lock.
- With the lock: someone created a TeamSideline account with the email address on the roster and has signed in with it, on the web or in the TeamSideline app. They see the team under Teams, with its calendar, events, announcements and roster.
- Without the lock: no one has signed in with that email address since it was added. That person can't see the team's calendar or events, but they still get the team's Communications and event reminder emails, and they can answer attendance polls from those emails.
On a Team Site your organization publishes, a parent who registered online already has an account under the family's email address. Their lock appears once they sign in on your organization's website or in the app.
The red flag: an address that isn't getting email
The red flag's tooltip reads "This email address is either invalid (entered wrong), or, is not accepting TeamSideline emails. A Roster Staff member needs to review the entry and correct if needed." and ends with the reason in parentheses, such as (Bad) when email to the address bounced or (Opt Out) when someone unsubscribed. TeamSideline doesn't send email to a flagged address, and that includes the team's Communications.
- Point to the red flag and read the reason in parentheses.
- If the address is misspelled, correct it: team staff click the member's pencil (Edit) on the Roster, fix the Email Address and click Save. If you can't edit the roster, ask your organization to correct it.
- If the address is right, the member can remove the filter from their own address, or your organization's admin can. The steps are in What does the red flag next to an email address mean?, under Related articles.
Who sees the icons
- Everyone on the team's roster sees the Roster page's email addresses and their icons.
- Family & Friends who follow the team see names only, with no email addresses or icons.
- For a member whose Privacy Required is checked, only team staff see their email address and icons.
Getting members registered
Adding someone to the roster doesn't email them. Send the team a Communication from Communications > Send Communications: anyone whose email address has no TeamSideline account yet gets a note in it with a link to register, every time you send one, until they register. The steps are in How to invite parents and players to your standalone team (send the team a Communication), under Related articles.
If it doesn't work
- Someone says they registered, but there's no gold lock. They registered or sign in with a different email address from the one on the roster, or they haven't signed in since they were added. Change their roster email to the address they sign in with, or have them sign in with the roster address. The lock appears after they next sign in.
- You see no email addresses or icons for anyone. You're viewing the team as Family & Friends, not as a roster member.
- One member has no email address or icons. Their Privacy Required is checked, so only team staff see them, or there's no email address on their roster entry.
- The red flag came back after the filter was removed. Another email bounced, so a new filter was added. Correct the address first.
Good to know
- Nobody can see who has installed the TeamSideline app: Team Sites and the admin site have no app report. The gold lock is the closest check, since it means the person has an account and has signed in, on the web or in the app.
- This lock isn't a locked roster. In Team Registration programs, a gold lock beside the roster's name on a team manager's Manage Rosters page means the organization has locked the roster; see How to lock a team roster (Open, Submitted and Locked statuses).
- The red flag also appears on admin rosters and account pages, with similar wording.
- The roster's other icons, the pencil (Edit) and red X (Delete), are for team staff changing the roster.
