For administrators: getting started
Where do I find Raise? In your admin menu, between Content and Reports. Raise opens to the Raise Dashboard.
Who can manage Raise? Users with the Administrator role or the Fundraiser role. The Fundraiser role covers every Raise page and both Raise report dashboards, without full administrator access. Fundraisers open the report dashboards from the buttons on the Raise Dashboard.
What should I set up first? Raise > Configurations > General. It sets your default payment gateway, the tax details printed on receipts, and the default banner and thank-you message for new campaigns.
Which payment gateways work with Raise? Payrix gateways only. You can send one campaign's donations to a different Payrix gateway by choosing it in that campaign's Payment gateway field.
For administrators: campaigns
Should I choose Crowdfunding or Peer-to-Peer? Choose Crowdfunding for one simple page that anyone can give on. Choose Peer-to-Peer when players will fundraise from their own pages. Peer-to-Peer needs a Youth Registration or Youth Camp Registration program.
Can I change a campaign's type later? Choose the type before you activate the campaign; the page notes it can't be changed after activation. To switch, copy the campaign and pick the other type in the copy.
Can I run more than one campaign at a time? Yes. Each campaign has its own page, goal, dates, and totals.
Are the goal and end date required? Yes. Every campaign needs a goal amount, a start date, and an end date.
When exactly does a campaign open and close? It opens at 12:00 AM on its start date and closes at 12:00 AM on its end date, in your organization's time zone. A campaign ending October 31 takes its last donations on October 30. Raise Campaign Active must also be on.
What happens when we reach our goal? The campaign keeps taking donations until its end date. The page shows a Goal met badge, and every dollar over the goal still counts.
Can I edit a campaign after it goes live? Yes. Changes show on the donation page right away. On a Peer-to-Peer campaign, the Program can't be changed once the campaign is active or has any donations.
Can I pause or close a campaign early? Yes. Turn off Raise Campaign Active to take the page offline, or move the end date. Campaigns can't be deleted.
Can I reuse a campaign next season? Yes. Click Copy Campaign on the Dashboard. The copy keeps the settings, dates, tiers, and teams, and adds "(Copy)" to the name. It doesn't keep a campaign-specific banner, so upload that again. Update the dates before saving, since the copy is set to active.
What is the Copy to address for? It gets a "Donation Received" email for every donation to the campaign, with the donor's receipt details. Enter one address. A shared inbox, such as your treasurer's, works well.
Is there a limit on the description and thank-you message? Keep each to 200 characters or fewer. Longer text may be cut off.
For administrators: donations and payments
Do donors need a TeamSideline account? No. Donors enter their name, email address, and card details. They never sign in.
How can donors pay? By credit or debit card, using the card types your Payrix gateway accepts. Raise doesn't record cash or check donations.
Is there a minimum or maximum donation? Yes. $1 minimum and $10,000 maximum per donation, not counting any processing fee.
Who pays the processing fee? If your organization passes processing fees on to customers, donors see the fee and their total below the amount before they give. The fee is added to their charge and doesn't count toward your goal. Otherwise, donors are charged only the donation amount.
Where does the money go? To the Payrix account behind the campaign's payment gateway. Unless you picked a different gateway for the campaign, that's the account your registration payments go to. Deposits follow your usual Payrix payout schedule.
Is card information secure? Yes. Donors type their card details into secure Payrix payment fields. TeamSideline never receives or stores full card numbers.
Can donors give anonymously? If Allow anonymous donations is on, donors can check Make my donation anonymous. They appear as "Anonymous" on the donation page and in the Dashboard's Recent Donations list. They still get a receipt, and administrators can still see who they are in the Raise Donations dashboard.
What is "Display my donation as"? An optional field where donors choose the name shown publicly, such as "The Smith Family." If they leave it blank, their first and last name is shown.
How do refunds work? Refund a donation from the Raise Donations dashboard. Choose Refund from the donation's Options menu. The donor's Add Transaction page opens in a new tab, where you refund it as usual. The Fundraiser role alone can't process refunds. A refunded donation no longer counts toward the amount raised. The donor still appears in the supporters list and the donor count.
Are donations tax-deductible? That depends on your organization's tax status, and TeamSideline can't decide it for you. If you're a registered 501(c)(3) and enter your tax details in Configurations, receipts include your legal name, your EIN, and a statement that the gift is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Every receipt also says that no goods or services were provided in exchange.
Why do I see new customers with only a name and email address? TeamSideline matches each donor to an existing customer by email address. If none matches, it creates a customer record with the donor's name and email.
For administrators: reports
Where can I see how a campaign is doing?
- Raise > Dashboard: all-time totals, each campaign's raised amount against its goal, and the 10 most recent donations.
- Reports > Report Dashboards > Raise Donations: every donation for a campaign and date range, with refund and resend-receipt actions.
- Reports > Report Dashboards > Raise P2P: each player's personal goal, total raised, number of donors, and percent of goal.
Why doesn't the donor count match the list of supporters on the page? The page lists only the five most recent supporters. The count includes every donation, refunded ones too.
For Peer-to-Peer campaigns
Which players get a fundraising page? Players with an accepted registration in the campaign's program. If you selected teams, the player must also be on one of those teams' rosters. Waitlisted, canceled, and transferred registrations don't get pages, and neither do volunteers.
When do players get their invitation email? When the campaign becomes active. Players who register later get theirs after they register, or, on a campaign limited to certain teams, after they're placed on one of those teams. The invitation goes to the primary adult on the player's account, once per campaign, and can take a few minutes to arrive. To resend a link, copy it from the Raise P2P dashboard.
Can players personalize their page? Not in this release. Each page shows the player's name and team, your banner and campaign story, and the player's progress toward the personal goal.
What player information is public? The player's first and last name and team name. No other registration details appear.
Can each player have a different goal? No. The Default personal goal applies to every player in the campaign.
Can someone donate to the campaign instead of a player? Not on a Peer-to-Peer campaign. Every gift goes through a player's page, and the campaign total adds them all up.
Is there a leaderboard? Not in this release. Compare players on the Raise P2P dashboard.
What if a player leaves the team or cancels? Their page stops taking donations. What they already raised stays in the campaign total.
What can coaches do? Coaches don't need Raise access. Encourage families to share their player's link. If a coach needs the Raise P2P dashboard, you can give them the Fundraiser role, but that role can also change Raise settings and campaigns.
For families and players
Where do I find my player's page? In the invitation email from your organization, sent to the primary adult on your account. If you can't find it, check your spam folder, then ask your organization's administrator.
How do I share the page? Use the share buttons on the page, or copy the page's address from your browser.
How do I see how much we've raised? Open the page. It shows the amount raised, how many people have donated, and progress toward the personal goal.
For donors
Do I need an account to donate? No. Enter your name, email address, and card details.
Will I get a receipt? Yes. Look for an email titled "Order Confirmation" at the address you enter, usually within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.
Why was I charged more than my donation? The organization passes card processing fees on to donors. The fee and total are shown before you give and on the thank-you page.
How do I get a refund? Contact the organization you donated to. Only they can issue a refund.
